Duo Piano Recital (April 2009)
About the Studio
Lesson Goals
To experience the joy of piano playing
To understand and interpret music notation
To develop a life-long passion for music
To perform with confidence in a variety of settings (home, studio, recitals, etc.)
To build personal confidence and self-esteem
To develop self-discipline
Sessions
Lessons are held weekly at the Curie Piano Studio
Lessons are grouped and billed in sessions (See session schedule)
Lesson time lengths are determined by student age, skill level, and motivation
Session payment is due on the Friday prior to the start of a new session
Session payments are non-refundable
Attendance Policy
Weekly attendance is expected and encouraged
Arrive promptly at the scheduled lesson time
Four make-up lessons are allowed each school year
Please DO NOT come to a lesson when ill with any contagious disease
Please DO NOT bring siblings into the studio during lesson times unless they are waiting for their lesson (Parents are welcome to stay during the lesson in the waiting area)
Practicing
Consistent weekly practice is expected and encouraged
Practice at least 5 days a week
Aim for the following practice times:
Elementary 20-30 minutes
Intermediate 30-45 minutes
Advanced 45-60 minutes
Parents should request a meeting (or the teacher will request one with them!) if there appears to be a problem finding adequate practice time
Performing
Several performance opportunities are available for those who wish to participate
Performance opportunities include:
Fall and Spring Recitals with the Curie Studio
Master classes with guest teachers
Studio classes
District Festival
Scale Olympics
Piano Guild
No student will be forced to perform in public
