About the Teacher
Brenda Curie earned her BA in Music Education from Capital University (summa cum laude) and MA in Piano Pedagogy from the Ohio State University. Her piano instructors were Carolyn Wachtman, Verena Dambrans (Capital University), and Steven Glaser (The Ohio State University). She has performed in master classes for renowned pianists Jerome Rose, Richard Fields, Lorin Hollander, and Emanuel Ax. Ms. Curie has accompanied many choral groups and instrumentalists over the years including the Columbus Children’s Choir, The Ohio State University Chorale, and Opera Columbus Outreach Program. She taught elementary music in the Grandview Heights schools and conducted the Columbus Youth Choir at Capital University.
Ms. Curie currently maintains a private piano studio in Pickerington, Ohio, is Director of Youth Choirs at All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, Ohio, and is an accompanist/vocal coach for several collegiate vocal music students at The Ohio State University.
Recent performances in 2008 include serving as guest accompanist with the Otterbein Concert Choir at the American Choral Directors Association convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan, guest performer with duo piano partner Dr. Sally Liew Sansbury and the Reynoldsburg High School Orchestra in Camille Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, and accompanist for Opera Columbus Outreach Program’s performances at the Columbus Italian Festival and Friendship Village of Dublin.
